Market Square

Market Square is a kind of open-air museum, where the spirit of the medieval city is soared, where every house is a architectural landmark and wrapped in its own legend. The architectural ensemble of the square was included to UNESCO World Heritage List.

The square owes its unique appearance to over 40 buildings – the so-called ‘kamenitsas’, every of which owns its history. The best examples of Renaissance architecture and true pride of Lviv inhabitants are houses №4 (Black Kamianytsia), masterpiece of European Renaissance architecture. Kornyakt’s Palace, so-called Italian Courtyard is popular among Lviv’s inhabitants and guests where you can admire the landmarks of past and enjoy a cup of fragrant coffee. Another of the square’s gems is the late Renaissance Bandinelli Palace. The building’s doorframe, decorated with pillars, attracts special attention, as do the stone dolphins on its façade – a symbol of successful trade.
