Lubart Castle is a remarkable example of medieval fortification architecture, one of the oldest in not only Ukraine, but all of Europe. This is typical European medieval fortification was built in 1340 as the residence of the Lithuanian-Volyn Prince Lubart.Many rulers envied the castle’s fortifications, and for over 600 years it withstood dozens of sieges, remaining in a great condition until today.

The castle entered the world’s history as a place where in 1432 a congress of European monarchs was held. Within the walls of the fortress there were celebrations, knightly tournaments and wedding ceremony.

The pride of Lutsk Castle is the largest collection of antique bells (the only one in Ukraine). On the territory of fortress an art gallery, exhibition of building ceramics, printing museum (collection of old books) and museum of weapons are opened
