Travelling by car

One of the best ways of traveling is traveling by car. A driver is required to have a registration document, customs declaration on a car and a driver’s license. He has to show the papers to an inspection officer on his request. If the car is rented, there should be all necessary documents confirming the right to drive a car. The car should be equipped with a first-aid-kit, an extinguisher and an emergency sign.

Fuel

Petrol stations are all over Ukraine. They all operate 24 hours. As a rule they have rest-rooms (WC), stores, service centers and other things. Typically drivers pay for a liter of fuel in cash.

Speed

  • 20 km / hr in a residential area
  • 60 km / hr in cities;
  • 80 km / hr on auto-ways;
  • 130 km / hr on highways (for example: the road to “Boryspil” airport).

These indicators are valid unless there are some additional signs of speed limitation.

Right driving in Ukraine is commonly accepted. GPS navigators can be used but not everywhere in the country. To have some rest and meal, drivers can park near a motel or an auto-tourism center.
